The Innocents Abroad, 21st Century Version

The Innocents Abroad aka The New Pilgrims Progress by Mark Twain was published in 1867, after Twain accompanied a group of Americans to Europe and “the Holy Land.” Coincidentally, this itinerary was quite similar to our 9 month plan, starting in September 2023. I highly recommend reading the chapters on Paris; I was laughing out loud (this book is available as public domain so can be downloaded gratis).

Year one included Paris, Chamonix, India, Israel and San Sebastian and all posts are available.

Now my husband Andy and I are in year two. We are in Mexico City November and December, 2024 and will spend the winter in Saint Martin de Belleville, part of the Trois Vallees in the French Alps.

It continues to be quite a ride!

Au Revoir Paris

Andy and I arrived to Newark Airport yesterday and were graciously hosted and fed by my amazing mother-in-law, Rena. Unpacking, organizing and repacking kept us awake until 9pm. We are in Manhattan for New Year’s Eve and the next two weeks.

It was sad to leave Paris but it always feels nice to be on familiar turf in my other favorite city. I will be posting some other fabulous memories of Paris in the next few weeks — no pressure to read my posts; however, if you are planning a trip to Paris in the near future or love reading about it, bonne lecture et appréciez chaque mot et photographie❣️

What better way to say au revoir than to share my collection of beautiful doors throughout Paris?

Happy 2024,

We have not said goodbye to France as we return on January 16, to Chamonix for more French immersion: faire du ski, raclette and fondue.
